Prof Hongzheng ZHU | Surface Science | Best Researcher Award
Prof. Hongzheng Zhu is a distinguished materials and mineral processing engineer, originally from Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. Currently a full professor and doctoral advisor at Anhui University of Science & Technology (AUST), he was recruited as a national “Class‑A overseas talent” and recognized as an outstanding young talent in Anhui. Since earning his doctorate in Mineral & Materials Engineering from Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí in Mexico in 2019, he has become a key academic figure in teaching and research at AUST.
Prof Hongzheng ZHU, Anhui University of Science and Technology, China
Profile
Education
Prof. Zhu completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mineral Processing Engineering at Anhui University of Science & Technology before pursuing his Ph.D. (awarded in February 2019) in Mineral & Materials Engineering under the supervision of a Mexican Academy of Sciences member in Mexico. He now serves as a doctoral supervisor, guiding students in advanced mineral processing and material innovation.
Experience
As a professor and doctoral advisor at AUST, Prof. Zhu has taught core subjects like fluid mechanics in mineral processing, flotation reagents, and mechanical vibration. He has led 10+ significant national and provincial research projects—including NSFC and provincial youth key talent programs—and authored over 45 peer‑reviewed articles (41 indexed in SCI/EI, with 14 in Top‑tier journals) as well as 21 national and 3 European patents. He also chaired projects that earned provincial and industrial awards.
Achievements
Prof. Hongzheng Zhu has received multiple prestigious awards recognizing his scientific innovations in coal slurry treatment, flotation technology, and mineral processing. These include the Anhui Provincial Science and Technology First Prize (2016) and multiple Patent Excellence Awards (2021, 2023) for his groundbreaking device inventions. He also earned national recognition, including the China Coal Industry Science and Technology Second Prize and the China Safety Production Technology Award. He is celebrated as a Top Talent of AUST, Outstanding Young Talent of Anhui, and Distinguished Teacher, exemplifying excellence in both research and education.
Research Focus
Prof. Zhu’s research specializes in mineral processing engineering, focusing on interface control in fine particle systems, advanced flotation reagent dynamics, and engineering fluid mechanics. He works extensively on the kinetic and dynamic behavior of frothing agents for efficient coal flotation and waste water treatment. The research advances smarter mining, cleaner production, and environmental management.
