Prof. Dr. Chao Li is a distinguished scholar in materials thermodynamics and engineering systems, with a strong interdisciplinary focus linking material behavior, energy transfer, and complex environmental processes. He serves as a Professor in the School of Water Resources and Civil Engineering at Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, where he has built a comprehensive research program integrating thermodynamics, material transport phenomena, and system modeling. Prof. Li’s research centers on the thermodynamic and physical mechanisms governing water–sediment systems, freeze–thaw processes, and coupled heat–mass transfer in natural and engineered materials. By applying principles of thermodynamics, continuum mechanics, and numerical simulation, he investigates how temperature gradients, phase transitions, and energy exchange influence material stability, erosion, and structural performance. His work provides valuable insights into material behavior under extreme environmental conditions, supporting improved design and management of hydraulic and civil engineering systems. Prof. Li has led and contributed to numerous competitive research projects, demonstrating strong leadership in interdisciplinary research that bridges materials science, environmental engineering, and applied physics. He has also developed innovative modeling tools and software systems that translate thermodynamic theory into practical predictive capabilities for engineering applications. In addition to his research achievements, Prof. Li is deeply committed to education and mentorship, supervising graduate students and contributing to curriculum development in engineering and applied sciences.
