Prof. Dr. Hwa-Jin Park | Biomaterials | Research Excellence Award
Inje University | Republic of Korea
Prof. Dr. Hwa-Jin Park is a distinguished Professor Emeritus at Inje University, Korea, widely recognized for his significant contributions to biomaterials, platelet biology, and thrombosis research. His academic work focuses on the molecular mechanisms regulating platelet activation and thrombotic disease, particularly TXA₂-dependent signaling pathways, phosphorylation-mediated regulation, and integrin αIIbβ₃ activation. Through integrated biochemical, cellular, and functional research approaches, he has advanced the understanding of bioactive natural compounds such as cordycepin and ginseng-derived saponins, demonstrating their potential as antiplatelet and circulation-enhancing agents. His research bridges fundamental biomedical science with translational applications aimed at improving prevention and treatment strategies for cardiovascular and thrombotic disorders. He has led major research initiatives and served as Director of the Biohealth Materials Research Center at Inje University while also contributing internationally as an invited professor at Kyoto University. With an extensive portfolio of peer-reviewed scientific publications, strong citation impact, and several patented innovations related to antiplatelet compounds and biomedical applications, Professor Park has played a pivotal role in advancing biomaterials and molecular biomedical research. His work continues to influence therapeutic development, functional biomaterials research, and the broader field of cardiovascular health science.
